Day One

Journey into “Yeats Country”  (County Sligo) in the west – an area of lush green landscapes, mountains and spectacular beaches. Take time to explore the pre historic Carrowmore Tombs, Sligo Abbey and the WB Yeats Museum. Visit the nearby Coleman Irish Music Centre and Theatre for a taste of genuine Celtic culture


Overnight in Sligo area ( two nights)


Day Two

Depart Sligo and head north towards Donegal. En route visit Drumcliff Churchyard where William Butler Yeats is buried here under the epitaph that he penned,“Cast a Cold Eye on Life, on Death. Horsemen, pass by!”. The Churchyard stands in the shadow of the magnificent Benbulben and here you will find a visitor centre, crafts shop and coffee shop. Your next stop is a visit  to Lissadell House, a Grecian Revival Mansion and was built in 1932 for the Gore-Booth family. The house is a treasure trove of memorabilia of a remarkable family

If time permits take a side trip to the outstanding show caves of Marble Arch before crossing the border into Northern Ireland and visit Belleek Pottery visitor centre.

Continue onto Donegal, home of world famous Donegal tweed. Spend time exploring this fascinating town


Overnight Donegal

Day Three

A must see is a drive along the dramatic coast road and a visit to the fishing port of Killybegs and Slieve Cliffs to the Gaelic speaking village of Glencolumbeille.  Ardara and Letterkenny are attractive towns en route to a tour of Glemnveagh National Park and the Inishowen Peninsula

Day Four & Five

Cross the border back into Northern Ireland into the historic walled of Derry to take an inner-city Guided Walking Tour with one of the well-informed and good-humoured tour guides - the city's history is so complex and its present is so dynamic that it takes a local expert to explain it all entertainingly. River cruise run along the river Foyle.

The next day drive out to the Old Bushmills  Whiskey distillery and thus fortified continue to the World Heritage site of the Giant’s Causeway. Other nearby attractions include Dunluce Castle and Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge.

Day Six

Head south to visit the fascinating Ulster – American Folk Museum before continuing onto Belfast – now a brightbustling city with plenty of nightlife. Nearby is the renown Ulster Folk and Transport Museum

Day Seven

Return homeward.
